Book Review: THE MISTER by E L James

This book was WAY different than I anticipated.

THE MISTER is a new, erotic romance by one of the most successful writers in the world, E L James.

When this book was first released, I didn’t read it and donated it to goodwill. At the time, I wanted to clean up and either sell or donate a lot of things that I was not going to use (It was more than books that i sold and donated). I ended up donating a LOT of books, including this one.

It want until 2 months ago that I repurchased it, and *partially* read it.

Okay, i got up to page 103, threw the book across the room, and put it in my DNF pile.

That was more exciting than reading this book.

The book starts off with the main character, Alessia, apparently running away from something in the prologue. We have NO idea what though!

There’s no context in why she’s running, or who she’s running from!

And then…AND THEN…Chapter 1….

We are introduced to Maxium. Who just finsished having sex with his dead brother’s wife!

His brother didn’t die months ago, like I original though. NoOoO! He died THREE DAYS AGO!

Good job E L James! I’m one chapter into your new-ish book, and I hate your main character!

Throughout the next chapters, Maxium hooks up with another two girls. And then comes Alessia. Maxium’s new maid.

Or as E L James calls it…Her “daily”.

I try not to describe a book as boring, but i have the slightest feeling if E L James published this with The Writer’s Coffee Shop Publishing House (Also known as simply “TWCS”) BEFORE The Fifty Shades series, the publishing house would still be operating and E L James would just be another one of those unknown indie published authors.

Just to clear up some context, TWCS was a small Australian book publisher that original published the Fifty Shades Trilogy. I know this because of not only the internet, but I own paperback editions of all three of the books in the trilogy published by TWCS. When the trilogy became a massive success in 2012, Random House (Now known as “Penguin Random House”), bought the publishing rights to the series. Another article looking back on that time coming soon.

Overall, there are MUCH better books out there that wont make you throw a book across the room. Books that have sex in them that are NOT as bland as how people stereotype white people cook chicken (Hint: With no seasoning).

I WOULD give this a 1/5 stars, but that’s being too generous…

I give this book a 0/5 stars.
